What makes a tournament a sucess?

Thats easy, a lot of hard work and dedicatin, devoted staff both at GCH and the arena folks but most of all the teams.

Why the current venues and will you be looking at other area's to host tournaments.

Yes we are exploring other venues but the tourneys we host now will be staying where they are. The Haliburton Highlands has it all for the teams and their families.

What has made the Easter Tornament such a sucess.

Combination of things I believe. the area, accomodations, time of year  but I really think it is the tournament itself and the teams that have participated over the 41 years.There are teams that have been coming to the tournament for over twenty years. Grandchildren of some of the players that played in the early years are now playing in the tourney. It all started in 1978 with 6 teams and I remeber that first one like it was yesterday. Someday somebody will write a book about this one and with some of the things that happened over the years they should.

Has the tournaments always been run under Grass Creek Hockey?

No, they originally started out under the Coby Islanders, than Dougall's Devils,back to the Islanders and more recently Haliburton Hockey Haven. The name changed but not the people for the most part.

How many more years are you going to do this?

As long as the body holds up.....no problem. There are some youger members of the family that I am sure will keep it going when it is time for me to call it a day.
